Project Title: Fake News: Tackling Discrimination
Overview:
'Fake News: Tackling Discrimination' is an innovative Erasmus Plus KA210 project aimed at addressing the critical issues of media misinformation and discrimination, with a focus on the impact of media portrayals on refugees. Initiated on 31st May 2022 and set to conclude on 30th November 2023, this project seeks to enhance media literacy among youth, youth workers, and policymakers, fostering a more informed and tolerant society.
Objectives:
Our primary goals include:
· Raising awareness about the misleading representations in the media, especially concerning refugees, and their impact on societal peace.
· Enhancing media literacy among our target groups to enable them to discern between factual and misleading information.
· Developing critical thinking skills to counteract propaganda and misinformation.
· Encouraging a balanced and informed public discourse on social media and other communication platforms.
Key Outputs:
The project encompasses several significant outputs:
· Anti-Refugee Propaganda in Social Media: Analysis and Impacts Report by ORSAM: An in-depth research report investigating the portrayal of refugees in social media.
· Media Literacy: Tackling Discrimination Training Course by Cojep-International: A comprehensive training program in Strasbourg, France, focusing on media literacy and its role in combating discrimination.
· Media Literacy Summit for Youth by ORSAM: A summit in Ankara, Turkey, bringing together young people to discuss and learn about media literacy.
· Short Film by Hitit University: A creative visual output designed to educate and promote media literacy among the wider public.
Project Partners:
Led by a consortium of dedicated partners, including ORSAM (Middle East Research Center), Cojep International, and Hitit University, the project leverages their collective expertise and networks to maximize impact.
