"Breaking Barriers: €60,000 Allocated to Combat Anti-Refugee Propaganda through Media Literacy"
We are delighted to announce that the proposed project, aimed at raising awareness and enhancing media literacy among youth, youth workers, and lawmakers in the face of misleading media portrayals, particularly concerning refugees and social peace, has been approved with a budget of €60,000. The project's primary strategy revolves around educating the target audience to combat false narratives prevalent in the media today.
The project will encompass a comprehensive approach, including activities such as the "Anti-Refugee Propaganda in Social Media: Analysis and Impacts Report" conducted by ORSAM, the "Media Literacy: Tackling Discrimination" training course organized by ORIW, and the "Media Literacy Summit for Youth" facilitated by ORSAM. Additionally, a short film produced by Hitıt University will serve as a powerful tool to convey the importance of media literacy and its role in fostering social cohesion. The anticipated impact of this initiative is to empower the younger population to correctly comprehend media literacy, equipping them with the skills to discern and resist manipulative tactics, particularly on social media platforms.
